Green Card Renewal and Replacement (Form I-90)
A permanent resident card is valid for 10 years, and renewing it is up to you. We prepare Form I-90 and the supporting documents, file it with USCIS online or by mail, and follow the case until your new card arrives. Our fee is $500. The USCIS filing fee is paid separately.
Is your green card expiring, or did you lose it? Message us and we'll tell you where to start.

What we do for your Form I-90
Form I-90 is the USCIS application for a new permanent resident card. You file it when your 10-year green card is expiring, when the card is lost, stolen or damaged, or when it has an error or your name or other details have changed.
The form is short, but choosing the wrong reason for filing or entering wrong details leads to a denial, and USCIS does not refund the fee. So we first check that I-90 is the right form for you, and only then prepare the application.
We review your card and history: whether it is a 10-year or a conditional card, any long trips abroad, arrests or name changes. If I-90 is not the right form, we tell you which one you need instead.
We complete the application, choose the correct reason for filing, and check the details against your card, passport and earlier USCIS documents.
We put together the copies and evidence you need: the old card, a name change document, a police report for a stolen card. We file online through your USCIS account or send the package by mail.
We track the case, explain the biometrics notice and the receipt, and prepare a response if USCIS sends a request. A response to a request for evidence is a separate service for $250.
When to file Form I-90
Form I-90 is filed by permanent residents who are in the United States. Below are the three main cases. If you are abroad or have a 2-year conditional card, you need a different form.
Three main cases
You can file when your 10-year card expires within the next six months or has already expired. You do not lose permanent resident status when the card expires, only the document does. But without a valid card it is harder to work, travel and prove your status.
If the card went missing in the US, you file I-90 for a replacement. If it was stolen, it is best to include a police report. A damaged card is sent in with the application.
If USCIS made a mistake in your name, date of birth or sex, the replacement is free. If your name changed after marriage or by court order, you file a regular application with the fee and the name change document.
How green card renewal works
The process usually takes a few steps. USCIS processing times change every month, so we check the current ones on the USCIS processing times page.
After filing you receive a Form I-797 receipt notice. Together with your old card, it serves as proof of your status for 36 months from the card's expiration date, so you can keep working and traveling.
When I-90 is not the right form or needs extra care
Most mistakes happen not in the form itself, but in choosing the form. These are the situations we check before filing.
If your card expired long ago or you spent a long time outside the US, discuss your situation at a consultation before filing. Sometimes the question is not the card, but the status itself.
