Frequently asked questions

Do I need personal savings to apply for a Skilled Worker Visa?
You must prove that you have a minimum of £1270. This requirement is in place to ensure you have sufficient funds to support yourself in the first months of your stay in the country before you start receiving your salary. If you cannot confirm this amount, your employer must indicate this information in the sponsorship certificate during your employment application and commit to providing these funds to you.
Do I need to take a language test to apply for this visa?
When applying for a Skilled Worker Visa, applicants must prove their English proficiency by passing the CEFR test at a minimum B1 level.
Can family members accompany me to the UK on a Skilled Worker Visa?
Yes, your immediate family members, including your legal spouse or partner with whom you have lived for at least 2 years, and your dependent minor children, can accompany you.
What is the biometric process like?
You will need to print out the application and appointment confirmation and then visit a UK visa center where your fingerprints will be taken, a photo will be taken, and your passport will be collected for the visa to be affixed.
If I only have one passport, do I need to leave it at the visa center?
After submitting your biometrics, your passport will be retained until the decision is made and the visa is affixed. However, you can pay for the ‘keep my passport’ service to have it returned to you on the day of biometrics submission. Once a decision is made, you must provide your passport to the visa center for the visa to be affixed, if approved.
If I urgently need a visa, can I pay for expedited processing?
Expedited processing is currently limited as immigration services prioritize refugee programs for Ukrainians. However, this option may still be available in some visa centers. You can find out if expedited processing is available at your desired visa center.
Can I know the visa decision only after getting my passport back?
When a decision on your visa is made, you will receive an email. Typically, if the visa is approved, there is no attachment in the email. If rejected, the email will include an attachment explaining the reasons. However, the final confirmation of visa approval will be when you receive your passport.
